About Us

MISSION AND HISTORY

Taraba is an NGO based in Podgorica, Montenegro. It was created by a group of people experienced in the Civil Society Sector, with the aim to develop capacity building, training and youth work activities as well as promote the importance of lifelong learning and an active Civil Society for the capacity building and development of local communities.

The vision of TC TARABA is to develop initiatives which will offer to the local community, opportunities for personal development through training, consultancy, learning mobility and the development of local and international projects in the fields of education, culture, civil society and active participation.

The activities of the Association are:

 1. Training and education of adults through the promotion of lifelong learning

2. Promotion of non-formal learning/education and development of tools for recognizing the learning outcomes of each educational process

3. Development of social, cultural and educational activities

4. Implementation and development of scientific researches and studies in the field of community development with the idea of social, financial and cultural development in the community

5. Collecting, analyzing and sharing information at national and international level by taking into account the role and techniques for implementing community development programs

6. Development of local entrepreneurship and support for job creation through vocational training

7. Contribution to the capacity building and development of human resources of the civil and business sectors through training and informational activities

8. Coordination and implementation of community development programmes aimed at raising awareness about the improvement of living conditions

9. Cooperation with all organizations at national and international level in the field of adult education and community development

10. Enhancing employment and professional training of all members of the community with a special focus on vulnerable groups

11. Organization, independently or in cooperation with other organizations of professional meetings, counseling, training and other forms of professional development in the field of improvement of qualifications and skills within the community necessary for better positioning in the labour market

12. Implementation of the initiatives and contributing to community development with the aim of improving the social position of citizens and reducing poverty

The target group of TARABA is mainly civil society organizations, and especially those active in the fields of anti-discrimination, social cohesion, social integration and support to vulnerable groups, tolerance, active and civic participation and volunteerism, and the local communities, with a special focus on vulnerable groups who face discrimination due to their social, economic, ethnic or other background.

The organization is divided in 3 main sectors:

The Training sector under which we will develop youth and adult education and training activities on skills development for local community and civil society organisations through short or long-term activities.

The community development and networking sector that aims at creating synergies between civil society organisations and between CSOs and public authorities in order to work together to develop policies and actions that benefit society in general and disadvantaged groups in particular and to promote active civic participation and volunteerism.

The International sector. Under this sector, we organize, manage or participate in international projects, which promote community development and capacity building through active civic engagement, volunteering, mobility and exchange of good practices.
